Meet your therapist
Lucon rigaud, LMHC
I first want to express my gratitude that you may choose to work with me on your healing journey. Making this first step can be very hard! I've been able to help hundreds of people through that step on their path using CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy. Often our beliefs about our situation lead to the stresses that we experience and it's the art of CBT that helps us to break that down and look at that.
Whether it's a lack of meaning, direction, or the active presence of anxiety or stress, I'm interested in getting to the bottom of the situation with you rather than dusting the surface. While it's not required to start in the deep end, we may take a look at the deepest part of your experience exploring what makes life meaningful for YOU. This can lead to homework, activities, and various other skills to practice to find what you're looking for.
I do offer a spiritual component to therapy for clients who request it as it can be a profound source of meaning for people. Though it's a passion of mine, there is no pressure to apply this if it's not a passion or curiosity of yours. This is your path. I pledge to be a guide and partner on that path!
Therapy usually starts with establishing some trust and getting to talk about what's bringing you in so that you feel comfortable walking the path together. From there, I tend to lean toward being more structured in my therapy and help to offer an evidence-based system that's been shown to get results for more than 60 years now, CBT. It gives us specific questions to answer, skills to practice, and a framework to follow that will give us the guidelines to embark on your journey. It's been the experience of many that they may have had a therapist in the past where the conversation goes on for some time but they're unsure whether any progress is being made. This is on the other side of that. With a strong structure, we know what we're aiming for with a plan to move forward each step of the way.
At the beginning of treatment, we'll create a treatment plan and spell out the goals that you have for yourself. I'll keep track of these using the therapy we work on to continually loop back to reintroduce these goals with the skills we practice and the trust we build.
My treatment approach is more grounded in the moment and looking forward rather than exploring the past extensively. My passion is helping you where you're at and helping you to progress toward where you'd like to be. We may reflect on the past and inform ourselves from it but most of the work will be done in the here and now with exercises and homework.

How does it work?
-
Evaluation
We meet for an hour to discuss what’s bringing you in and how I can help. We’ll outline a plan of action and schedule around implementing it. There is a free consultation before this if you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you.
-
Therapy
After the evaluation, we’ll decide how frequently to meet and work through a treatment plan that we make together to address the goals you have for treatment.
-
Maintenance
After achieving your goals with therapy, sessions may end or they can enter a maintenance form for touching base and more subtle course corrections if desired (usually conducted much less frequently).
-
Location
Currently, all of our appointments are being offered remotely via video calls.
-
Out of Pocket Cost
The upfront cost of 60-minute sessions is $150 if not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
