Meet your therapist

jamie degeoge, LMHC

My name is Jamie, I am a licensed mental health counselor with 20 years of experience. Do you feel you could be doing better? Do you feel it's time for a little help? Do you feel that you've gone to counseling before and haven't experienced results? Do you feel it's time for a change? If you answered yes, or just the fact that you're here means that you could be ready. I would like the opportunity to work with you to help you achieve the peace and success in life that you're searching for.

If we started counseling together we would have a job to do. Whatever goals you have it would be our job to achieve them. In order to do any job, a person needs two things. Can you guess what those two things are? The answer is knowledge and tools.

I have developed a straightforward and healing style of therapy for over 20 years. I have enjoyed success in helping people overcome their problems and fears. Allow me the opportunity to share my knowledge and tools with you.

I have a person-centered style and approach. I provide a safe place for exploration and assessment without judgment. A typical session with me would consist of identifying current stressors, working collaboratively on problem-solving, and identifying solutions. We usually wrap up with a homework assignment or identify specific skills to use between sessions to cope with and alleviate ongoing difficulties.

My process for working with clients is to provide folks with a thorough evaluation that identifies not only current stressors and problems, but also to identify their solutions. I have advanced training and experience in several different treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, schema-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused care. During sessions, we want to identify where the needs are and how to meet those needs. My goal is to provide the knowledge and tools folks need to understand the sources of their difficulties, and the ability to use tools effectively through modeling and practice.

How does it work?

  • Evaluation

We meet for an hour to discuss what’s bringing you in and how I can help. We’ll outline a plan of action and schedule around implementing it. There is a free consultation before this if you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you.

  • Therapy

After the evaluation, we’ll decide how frequently to meet and work through a treatment plan that we make together to address the goals you have for treatment.

  • Maintenance

After achieving your goals with therapy, sessions may end or they can enter a maintenance form for touching base and more subtle course corrections if desired (usually conducted much less frequently).

  • Location

Currently, all of our appointments are being offered remotely via video calls.

  • Out of Pocket Cost

The upfront cost of 60-minute sessions is $150 if not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
