Meet your therapist
Lee Trometer, LMHC
Welcome, and thanks for choosing me to help you through a trying time. I have been working with clients for nearly 6 years as a mental health professional. My journey began working with those with persistent and severe mental health difficulties, often offering support for them in the community. From there, I began working in an adult outpatient clinic treating various ailments from addiction, anxiety, depression, and other life-stage difficulties. My philosophy for working with others is that life can be unbearable at times but it is often due to our own thoughts about a situation or beliefs that we have about who we are. Once we can change our perception, life does not appear to be so bad, and more importantly, we can open ourselves up to deeper meaning and connection with the world.
I like to create an environment where you feel comfortable. Although there is a level of professionalism I adopt as a clinician, I also know that we must loosen our ties and let down our hair once in a while. That being said, informality and humor are something I incorporate into sessions as it is a strong component of who I am.
I mainly utilize an Acceptance and Commitment approach in counseling. This mainly consists of utilizing mindfulness-based practice, value-based living, and self-awareness of the thoughts that contribute to a decline in well-being. The first few sessions will revolve around getting to know you, setting goals, and allowing you some time to process your own emotional experiences. Some days we may need to problem-solve, other days we might need a listening ear. Counseling is a journey, one that can be adapted to each individual.

How does it work?
-
Evaluation
We meet for an hour to discuss what’s bringing you in and how I can help. We’ll outline a plan of action and schedule around implementing it. There is a free consultation before this if you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you.
-
Therapy
After the evaluation, we’ll decide how frequently to meet and work through a treatment plan that we make together to address the goals you have for treatment.
-
Maintenance
After achieving your goals with therapy, sessions may end or they can enter a maintenance form for touching base and more subtle course corrections if desired (usually conducted much less frequently).
-
Location
Currently, all of our appointments are being offered remotely via video calls.
-
Out of Pocket Cost
The upfront cost of 60-minute sessions is $150 if not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
