Meet your therapist

Stephanie Kane, LMHC

I became a counselor because I want to help people and encourage them to feel heard. When people have a chance to let out what they're holding in and be themselves in a place where they're not going to be judged, they've got more of a chance to heal. I hope to hold that space for you in my practice and I've got close to 10 years in the field to help make that happen. I try to offer space for people to express their feelings without judgment or fear. I hope to build a genuine connection with my clients so that they feel welcome to express themselves and get back some of what they may have lost. We’ll come up with plans to help you rebuild, grow new strengths, and genuinely express yourself. The plans we come up with will be tailored to you in a unique way. Your experiences are unique and our plans should be unique too. Bringing a solution-focused approach to therapy, we’ll move toward creating hopeful, novel approaches to some of the problems that may be weighing you down. We’ll aim to prevent that “stuck” feeling and get away from feeling hopeless.

I prefer to have close and sincere contact with people; I try to use the genuine connection with my clients to help them approach the problems that they want to work on. Though some therapies try to push people in certain directions, I believe that this is about following your individual healing journey. Journeys like that can be scary at times which is why it can be helpful to have a dedicated partner who's been on a few journeys before to come with you. I hope that you choose me to help you through that struggle!

The beginning of treatment is about building a connection together and building some trust. Together, we'll go through the journey of digging into some of the things that are bothering you, giving you space to share your experience, and validating the progress we make along the way. I frequently check in with my clients to make sure that we're aiming in the right direction, pursuing the right goals, and that they feel that treatment is progressing the way that they want. It's my hope that this leads to a worry-free non-judgemental atmosphere where you can be yourself.

How does it work?

  • Evaluation

We meet for an hour to discuss what’s bringing you in and how I can help. We’ll outline a plan of action and schedule around implementing it. There is a free consultation before this if you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you.

  • Therapy

After the evaluation, we’ll decide how frequently to meet and work through a treatment plan that we make together to address the goals you have for treatment.

  • Maintenance

After achieving your goals with therapy, sessions may end or they can enter a maintenance form for touching base and more subtle course corrections if desired (usually conducted much less frequently).

  • Location

Currently, all of our appointments are being offered remotely via video calls.

  • Out of Pocket Cost

The upfront cost of 60-minute sessions is $150 if not covered by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and receipts are provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
